Roma wants to keep strong players despite the need for transfers

Gian Piero Gasperini has expressed the wish at AS Roma to keep the key players in the selection. However, the club management is in a difficult situation: financial resources must be generated before the end of June. That is why Roma is now focusing on selling players who are not among the regular strongholds.

For example, the transfers of Buba Sangare, Saud Abdulhamid and Eldor Shomurodov - sold to Elche, Lens and Basaksehir respectively - together already amounted to 10.8 million euros in the club's coffers. Moreover, Tommaso Baldanzi seems to be the next player to leave. Roma is in discussions with Genoa about a rental deal with mandatory buyout, worth 9.5 million euros. Once that transition is formally completed, Roma will have raised a total of 20.3 million euros from these transactions.


There is also a case surrounding Anass Salah-Eddine. PSV Eindhoven had initially announced that it wanted to exercise an option to acquire the Moroccan wing defender for 8 million euros. However, due to a lack of agreement between Salah-Eddine's agent and PSV, the transfer was canceled. As a result, Roma now has the opportunity, especially given its recent performances in the Champions League and the prospect of a possible World Cup participation, to demand a higher transfer fee from interested clubs.

The coming weeks will determine whether Roma succeeds in finding the balance desired by Gasperini between sporting ambitions and financial necessity.
