Juventus is committed to contract extension for Pierre Kalulu after strong performances
Juventus is taking full advantage of the arrival of Pierre Kalulu, who has become a permanent fixture in the past two seasons. The club is now negotiating a new contract to retain the defender for longer, despite interest from the Premier League.
Two years ago, hardly anyone expected Pierre Kalulu to make such a big impact at Juventus. The defender was rented from Milan for three million euros at the time, with an option to buy for sixteen million euros. Juventus thus trumped competitor Atalanta, which had also shown serious interest.
Since his arrival, Kalulu has impressed regardless of the coach. The Frenchman performed excellently under both Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor. With a salary of approximately 2.5 million euros per year, he is considered a relatively advantageous employee within Juventus' current policy.
Kalulu's strong performances have not gone unnoticed by the Juventus management and trainer Luciano Spalletti. That is why the idea arose to reward him with a significant salary increase and contract extension. Kalulu is reportedly asking for four million euros per year, while the club was aiming for a compromise between 3.3 and 3.5 million euros. If an agreement is reached, a contract will be ready until mid-2030 with an option for an additional year.
With the possible contract extension, Kalulu would be the fourth Juventus player to sign recently, after Yildiz, McKennie and Locatelli. Trainer Spalletti also recently received a new contract. The negotiations take on extra significance now that there is interest in Kalulu from the Premier League - Manchester United and Tottenham. If Kalulu leaves, he may follow Dusan Vlahovic, who will probably look for a new club and thus create space in Juventus' salary house.
Today Pierre Kalulu celebrates his 26th birthday, which makes this milestone extra special.
