Danny Röhl on his way to head coach at RB Salzburg
RB Salzburg is approaching the appointment of Danny Röhl as head coach. The German previously worked for RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and the German national team and recently impressed at Rangers.
RB Salzburg appears to be appointing its new head coach soon: Danny Röhl is about to transfer to the Austrian top club. According to reports from Sky Germany, only the final formal details are still being finalized before the appointment is officially confirmed.
Röhl has had a strong season at Rangers, where he has been in charge since October 2025 and has won 18 of 25 league matches. Despite six draws and one defeat, his team finished just short of the championship in the Scottish Premiership.
The 37-year-old German is no stranger to the Red Bull network; Röhl started his coaching career as a video analyst at RB Leipzig. There he rose to assistant coach under Ralph Hasenhüttl, with whom he later also worked at Southampton in England. Röhl also worked as an assistant at Bayern Munich and with the German national team under Hansi Flick, before being appointed head coach at Sheffield Wednesday in October 2023.
With his broad experience in both the Bundesliga and at international level, Röhl is expected to continue the line of development and performance at RB Salzburg. The official announcement of his appointment is expected soon.
