Bari: Tension over stadium issue and hope for return to Serie B

The relegation to Serie C after the play-out against SudTirol has heated emotions in Bari. There is a lot of dissatisfaction about the concession of the Stadio San Nicola and protests in the city are increasing. In the background there is the hope that Bari can be admitted to Serie B again, if things go badly for Castellammare di Stabia. Summer has not yet started, but temperatures in Bari have already risen. The De Laurentiis family seems to be sitting still, except for a few answers to Mayor Vito Leccese, and is insensitive to the calls for change from the city.

The protests are already in full swing. A page in the Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno was recently purchased, and banners saying 'available for hire' are hanging outside the San Nicola stadium. These banners are not the only sign of discontent, as supporters plan to distribute around 5,000 flyers with the message “Sparisci! Ci hai rotto il calcio” (Get out! You are disrupting football).

If the situation continues like this, it is expected that the biancorossa supporters will protest further and launch new initiatives to expel the Filmauro from the city.


The issue surrounding the stadium has still not been resolved. The concession for the San Nicola is in the dark, and a feud is underway with mayor Vito Leccese, who denies rumors of a possible meeting with the club management. He maintains his previous position: after the expiry of the stadium's concession period, they will continue to deal with this important asset.

Meanwhile, Monopoli has asked to play the first games of the season at the Bari stadium, but so far the municipality has not responded. Bari is considering moving to Altamura for home matches, but here too there are no confirmations of official requests.

The big question is whether the De Laurentiis family will wait for June 10, a crucial date that could determine the future of Juve Stabia and possibly open the door to Serie B for Bari. However, a return to the league at the expense of another team is unlikely to bridge the gap between the club's management and its supporters.
