From Anfield to Harvard: Divock Origi (31) quits football and chooses fashion
Divock Origi ends his football career at the age of 31. The ex-Liverpool striker is throwing himself into the fashion world and reportedly wants to study at Harvard.
Divock Origi has hung up his football boots. The 31-year-old attacker, who was best known to the general public for his time at Liverpool, announced his retirement this week. According to HLN, the former Red Devil is shifting his focus to the fashion world and plans to study at Harvard.
Origi, who has already immersed himself in fashion in the past period, explained his choice: "I am already fully immersing myself in the history of the profession. I want to study it at the highest level and hopefully have the opportunity to learn from the best designers in the world."
The striker started his professional career with Lille in France. He played 45 times for the main team and scored seven goals. In 2014 he signed with Liverpool, who immediately loaned him back to Lille. There he added another nine goals in 44 matches. Between 2015 and 2017, Origi scored 21 goals in 77 official matches for the English top club.

A rental period at Bundesliga club Wolfsburg followed in the summer of 2017, where he scored seven times in 36 appearances. After returning to Anfield, Origi played 98 more games for Liverpool and found the net 20 times. In 2022 he left for AC Milan on a free transfer. That step turned out less well in sporting terms: two goals in 36 games. He was loaned out to Nottingham Forest during the 2023/24 season, before returning to Milan without making any first-team appearances.
Internationally, Origi played 32 times for the Red Devils and scored three times. At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, he made a name for himself with a late winning goal against Russia in the group stage.
With his choice for the catwalk and, reportedly, a study at Harvard, Origi is taking a surprising new path after a career that included Lille, Liverpool, Wolfsburg, AC Milan and Nottingham Forest.
