AZ signs Jari De Busser for five years: 'I want to win prizes'

Belgian goalkeeper exchanges Go Ahead Eagles for a long-term contract with AZ.

AZ has completed the arrival of Jari De Busser. The goalkeeper comes over from Go Ahead Eagles and has signed a five-year contract in Alkmaar. The transfer, which had been in the air for some time, was officially announced on Friday.

The 26-year-old Belgian reacted visibly enthusiastically to his switch. "I am very happy to be here. From the first moment I got a warm feeling at AZ. It feels like a family club that has steadily grown, but has not forgotten its roots," De Busser said via the club channels.

De Busser calls AZ's reputation as a training club an important argument for his choice. "Over the years, AZ has helped many players to develop further and take steps to a higher level. That appeals to me enormously. I have always had something to do with AZ and now being part of it feels very special."

The new recruit is also outspoken about his ambitions. "I want to win prizes. That was also an important topic in the conversations I had with the club. AZ has the ambition to grow further and I would like to be part of that."

With his long-term contract, De Busser is taking the next step in his career, in which he now wants to achieve success in Alkmaar after his period in Deventer.
