Harry Kane: 'The best chance of my career' to win the World Cup

Harry Kane indicates that the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico is his best chance to win the tournament. He is determined to help England after 60 years without a major victory.

England captain Harry Kane is looking forward to the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico with great enthusiasm. He describes this edition as 'probably the best chance' in his career to win the coveted tournament. Kane enters the World Cup on the back of an impressive season in which he scored 61 goals and provided seven assists for Bayern Munich. With these figures and his victories in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal, he is a serious candidate for the Ballon d'Or, but he realizes that he has to put in a strong performance at the World Cup to stay in the running.

The 32-year-old striker is also aware that this World Cup, his third participation, could possibly be his last. "It could be your last because you never know what happens in football. You know how I am, I want to play for a long time. I feel in my prime, as fit as I've ever been, that hunger is there, but it could be my last," he said in an interview with ITV.

Kane added: "The World Cup for me is the pinnacle of any career. This is my third tournament and I can say that with the way I feel and the season I've had, I've probably got the best chance I'll have in my career to win the World Cup."

Kane was also asked whether he believes the criticism that England is too dependent on his qualities and whether that increases the pressure on him. “I think every top striker in the team brings a certain dependency to score goals,” he said. “When you have a main goalscorer in your team, you are expected to score the goals. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

“However, I believe we can get goals from other parts of the team as well. Look at the squad we have chosen, we also have great winners in the team. Everyone has performed quite successfully this season in terms of trophies, which I think is an important factor. Look, people can say they're going to lean on me, but that's a responsibility I've had my entire career. We haven't won with England for 60 years; we have been extremely close and knocked on the door. Now it's time to cross that line, that's for sure.
