AS Roma sets clear limits when attempting to attract Mason Greenwood

AS Roma has learned from previous summers and takes a direct approach to strengthening the attack. There will be no auction for Mason Greenwood: the club will make one well-considered offer to Marseille and, if rejected, will focus on other transfer targets.

AS Roma wants to avoid a repeat of last year's long and complex transfer soap opera surrounding Jadon Sancho at all costs. According to Italian media, this now also applies to the possible arrival of Mason Greenwood. The English attacker, currently owned by Manchester United and active for Getafe last season, is high on the wish list of the Romans, who want to strengthen their forward line for the new season.

However, unlike last year, AS Roma will not enter into a bidding war or be drawn into endless negotiations. The club is negotiating with French side Marseille, where Greenwood recently played, and will make only one sharply formulated offer. If this offer is accepted, Greenwood will settle in the Italian capital. If Marseille continues to make higher demands, Roma will immediately switch to other alternatives for attack.

For the new technical director Tony D'Amico, it will be the first major assignment to quickly provide clarity and stay ahead of foreign competition, including Atlético Madrid and various top Turkish clubs. Trainer Gian Piero Gasperini hopes for his first desired reinforcement soon. With this new approach, Roma club management wants to avoid unnecessary delays and make decisions more quickly in the transfer market.
