1. FC Köln signs Jahmai Simpson-Pusey permanently until 2030 after loan deal with Manchester City

1. FC Köln has permanently acquired Jahmai Simpson-Pusey from Manchester City. The German club lifted the purchase option that was included in the winter rental deal. The 20-year-old English centre-back has signed a contract in Cologne until mid-2030.

According to director Thomas Kessler, people in Cologne are very satisfied with the development of Simpson-Pusey. He emphasized that the defender adapted quickly after his arrival in the winter, immediately performed at the required level and clearly showed his potential with his performances. Kessler sees Cologne as an excellent environment for young talents to take steps.


Simpson-Pusey himself also speaks of trust and appreciation at the club. The defender indicated that he had received a lot of playing time and felt supported by the team, fans and staff, which was the deciding factor for him to opt for a longer stay.

Simpson-Pusey spent twelve years in Manchester City's youth academy and made his first-team debut under Pep Guardiola in the autumn of 2024, making six appearances. After a six-month loan spell at Celtic, he opted for a move to the Bundesliga last winter.

His debut for 1. FC Köln came away at Heidenheim, in a match that was played in heavy snow. In the second half of the season, the Englishman made eleven appearances for the 'Geißböcke', enough to convince the club to retain him for longer.
